Rx: go to the beach, once per day

Every day I get to decide the degree of engagement I want to attain with people, experiences, and myself.

In the busy-ness of life it's easy to remain chronically touch-and-go.

This condition though isn't one to be ashamed of or defensive against, it is a condition we all experience in such a fast paced and achievement oriented world. It is one though to be confronted, and through repetitive training and reflection, transformed.

Take a minute and forget everything.

Sit with your eyes closed and allow thoughts to pass from one side of your head to the other.

Name the thoughts aloud as to acknowledge them. Then allow them to dissipate.

You are acting so simply yet you are engaging so rawly.

Now bring this practice into the real world . . .

I don't expect you to bust out your yoga mat and incenses on the job. Instead I'm asking you to take a few minutes throughout your day to flush your mind and simply, be. Engage with yourself to allow an honest interpretation of your feelings and intentions. In time you will come to have a deeper respect and appreciation for yourself, yielding a more positive and less chaotic self concept, allowing you to engage with others and the world around you in a more substantial and influential way.

In a world guided by screaming voices, high stake interactions, and charged instances of emotional distress, who would have imagined that the quiet time, the time when the walls comes down and the feelings we strive so hard to mask with our loud voices and acceptable outward perceptions, would serve as a refuge from the corruption?
